Choosing a restaurant
Food and service have service have been important factors in selecting where to eat.

But in the last year or so, we’ve found quality of cocktails to become almost as important factor in choosing where to go.

agree with all that hammerama - shame about the golf prices. Played quinta do lago south/north over the summer and it was £120 a round plug buggies which was getting a bit ridiculous. Few twilight offers around on vale do lobo courses which were better value and a nice time to play.Even in quinta you can still get chicken, chips and a pint for under ten euros in places like marufa

Yeah, lovely place. I was on the silver coast last week. Stunning place with even better value than upmarket Cascais.

I LOVED Lisbon and Cascais when I wend last year. Cascais is a 30 min local train ride from Lisbon, very picturesque with Great Food options at good prices, and just a lovely town to be in altogether.

Agree about Portugal. Spent a few days in cascais outside Lisbon last week - fantastic restaurants, great seafood and cracking wine at around £25 a bottle

Re: Choosing a restaurant
The last 8 restaurants I ate in were Portuguese. I only ate fish/seafood. Everything was so fucking good and the value was excellent. There was nothing about these places that was trying to rip me off.

1. Hygiene rating of 5
2. Busy with high turnover of customers hence food is constantly fresh.
3. Open kitchen with food preparation by chefs wearing disposable gloves and cooked on display.
4. Good reviews
5. Pescatarian menu.
6. All staff wearing disposable masks.

I don't eat out or take away much.

Re: Choosing a restaurant
The intersection of quality and price.

Just ate at a restaurant in little italy, during San Gennario fesitval no less, so it was heaving, but food was good, a bottle of wine was reasonable and not overpriced and we got out for $60 each which is pretty good for Manhattan. Plus they put some decent bread out on the table to start, not doing so in a French or Italian Resto is a deal breaker for me.

Re: Choosing a restaurant
Of the last ten restaurants I've been to, seven have been Italian. All bloody good.

Although I haven't even been to the one with the best reputation, because they're booked out all the time, and I go when I fancy it.

The others were Vietnamese, French and modern Indian (you know, the sort of place that has haggis curry on the menu). They were ok, Might go back for haggis curry, as I had something more traditional, and the idea has become more intriguing as time passes

Go for the banana milkshake mixed with Fanta next time you go, Fish Bar. It'll help the Big Mac go down a treat
